We are thrilled to share an exciting progress update on the Las Mercedes KM11 Clean Water Solution project in Piura. With each passing day, we are one step closer to transforming the lives of the community and creating a lasting impact.

Our Planning and Engineering team, in collaboration with local governance, is diligently compiling all the necessary documentation to show the positive impact that our clean water project will bring to the Las Mercedes KM11 community. While this may require additional time and patience, we are confident in the impact of our project proposal and we are optimistic about the outcome.

In just under three months, the time will arrive for Vera Aqua Vera Vita’s Mission team to embark on their annual journey to educate, empower and connect with the people in rural Peru. The lessons our Missionaries share are vital to helping the community stay healthy, by mitigating the impacts of consumption of contaminated water sources and and so they can preserve the cleanliness of the water that will flow from the engineered clean water system VAVV will bring to fullfilment in collaboration with the people soon.

Before our clean water project, this community of 7,000+ people was forced to use and drink water from highly contanimated brown water that strongly resembled chocolate milk in color. Las Mercedes KM11 has received verbal water rights approval from the Piura Government! The clean water project is making great progress towards providing sustainable change for those in need!

“Now, less than 15% of the people in the community of Monte Castillo suffer from Chronic waterborne illnesses (i.e. Diarrhea, Persistent Stomach Pain, etc.) compared to what was over 50% of the population before our clean water project,” Jacob Niemeier, Founder of VAVV, wrote. “This is amazing progress!”

Throughout the month of November, Vera Aqua Vera Vita has continued working with the Piura Regional Government and various other governing bodies to secure final approval and construction cost estimates for Las Mercedes KM11’s clean water solution.

This October, the Vera Aqua Vera Vita Planning and Engineering team has been persevering in coordination with authorities in Piura, Peru to secure final approval for water rights, power supply, and use of the Pan-American highway Right of Way (ROW) for the waterline crossing for Las Mercedes KM11’s clean water project.

Vera Aqua Vera Vita (VAVV) is getting excited to start construction on Las Mercedes KM11’s clean water solution. VAVV is in the final stages of acquiring construction permits from various governing bodies in Piura with hopes of attaining final approvals in the next month or so!

The Planning and Engineering team is making great strides to get Las Mercedes KM11’s full project construction underway! We’re also implementing an impact survey to get real data on the impact of 3 years of clean water for the community of Monte Castillo!

This past March was a very special month for Vera Aqua Vera Vita; for the first time since 2019, VAVV got to send a team of missionaries from DFW into the rural communities of Piura, Peru to bring True Water True Life through service, education and camaraderie! Last month in Peru, Vera Aqua Vera Vita made significant developments on our two active projects; not only have we reached completion on the necessary environmental studies, but we’ve also solidified partial funding for our projects in partnership with the Piura Regional Government. Vera Aqua Vera Vita is excited to share that we’re getting closer and closer to being fully equipped to break ground on construction in mid to late March. This past month of January consisted of crucial steps that are necessary to advance the projects.

As Vera Aqua Vera Vita closed out the year of 2021, our projects in Piura have seen an important shift in development! The year of 2021 saw so much project progress, but we know that 2022 can only hold greater things for the holistic health of the people of Piura!

This month, for the first time in our organization’s history, we got to send Ricardo Arbulu, VAVV’s Director of Projects and Programs, to our active projects in Piura, Peru!
